HITACHI OASIS AND RADAR TECHNOLOGY SIMPLIFIES PEDIATRIC IMAGING

CLEVELAND, Ohio (March 30, 2010) —Bore-Less Oasis and RADAR technology enable Community Health Network to enhance their pediatric MRI capability.

Community Health Network in Indianapolis, Indiana installed Hitachi’s Oasis Bore-Less High-field MRI in October 2009. They have been very pleased with the performance of the system. The image quality is equal to 1.5T and Oasis gives them the added benefit of greater patient accept-ance without sedation.

“We have been able to scan very young children without sedation on Oasis. With RADAR we as-sure the images are free of any motion,” said Jeff Beatty Director Outpatient Imaging Centers for Community Health Network, “This is a challenge on our conventional MR systems. On other MR systems children tend to be nervous and without the contact with a parent they tend to move around or even refuse the exam. This makes sedation almost a necessity on other MR systems.”

“The design of Oasis is such that a child can readily see outside the scanner during the examination,” stated Shawn Etheridge, Director of MR Marketing with Hitachi, “Combine the patient’s eye contact with a technologist or parent with our RADAR motion compensation and you have a great pediatric MRI solution.”

Oasis is gaining acceptance all over the country as a first class alternative to 1.5T closed bore-type MRI, with installations in teaching institutions, large and small hospitals as well as imaging centers.
