HITACHI TO HIGHLIGHT ITS UNIQUE SOLUTIONS FOR WOMEN’S HEALTH IMAGING
CLEVELAND, Ohio (Nov. 24, 2009) — At this year’s RSNA Annual Meeting, Hitachi will highlight the many unique ultrasound solutions for women’s health imaging. Among the most talked about of these solutions is Hitachi’s Real-time Tissue Elastography which uses ultrasound to assess the relative stiffness of tissue, giving clinicians access to a data set previously unattainable through ultrasound.
Hitachi will also display their large selection of high frequency probes designed to address the unique needs of women’s health specialists. Among these are a 92 mm long linear probe, designed to speed up radial breast scanning through its ability to see large portions of a lobe in a single image, and a slim endovaginal probe, which requires less manipulation because of its industry- leading 200° field-of-view.
Hitachi will also be showcasing its Beam Steered Biopsy (BSB) guidance capabilities. BSB allows a user to steer multi-angle transmit scan lines towards the needle during a breast biopsy procedure to improve needle visualization. “Physicians are taught that the best needle approach angle is one that is parallel to the chest wall and perpendicular to the direction of the ultrasound beams,” said Courtney Ernst, RDMS, Applications and Clinical Science Manager for Hitachi Ultrasound. “Sometimes achieving this optimal angle is difficult or even uncomfortable for the patient. BSB-guidance compensates for these variations and greatly improves the visibility of the needle.”
