Hitachi's Echelon 1.5t Installed Base Exceeds 99% Uptime Target For First 9 Months Of Operation

Users of hi-tech equipment often must balance cutting edge technology advantages against reliability. Not so with Hitachi's Echelon 1.5T, according to Jason Miller, MR Product Manager for Hitachi Medical Systems America. According to Miller, "While Echelon 1.5T incorporates many leading edge features including a high performance gradient system, new RF coils, and new RF and computer architecture, our users are finding it to be just as reliable as the open MR equipment we have marketed since 1989."
A cornerstone of Hitachi's UltraPlus Customer Assurance program has been its 99% uptime guarantee. Hitachi's uptime guarantee feature differs from similar offerings in the marketplace through a policy of a quarterly calculation on a working hours basis, and its award of free service months if the 99% uptime level is not met during the quarter.
Anish Berry, President of Diagnostic Imaging Group LLC of Bethpage, NY, manages facilities in New York, New Jersey and Florida equipped with nineteen Hitachi open MR systems and a new Echelon 1.5T. Mr. Berry stated that “Hitachi continued its tradition of equipment reliability with this Echelon –we have had virtually no downtime or unscheduled service visits since installation last November”. He went on to say that “as a busy outpatient imaging services provider, we really cannot put up with equipment reliability issues – Hitachi has really taken care of us.”
