8500 Premium ultrasound system. This software enhancement will provide users with a host of imaging and operating improvements including a one-touch optimization feature and a new digital zoom with increased resolution and selectable sector size for maximizing frame rate.

In addition to this software component, the upgrade will also include a new DVD+RW storage solution. The company also announced that, upon release, customers covered by warranty or service contracts will receive not only the software enhancement, but also the DVD hardware at no charge. “Hitachi Medical Systems America has a long track record of providing free operating software enhancements to warranty and service contract customers,” said Matthew Ernst, Ultrasound Product Manager, “in this case, however, because of the dramatic benefits for our customers, we decided to exceed our standard commitment and provide the hardware component at no charge as well.”

Additionally, the new operating software will support the HI VISION 8500’s optional SonoElastography feature, which allows users to acquire tissue elasticity information in conjunction with conventional B-mode images.

These new features will augment the unique SONO MR imaging suite that is already standard on all 8500 systems. SONO MR provides users with HI COMPOUND multi-angle compound imaging, HI RES real-time speckle reduction technique, four modes of dynamic Tissue Harmonic Imaging and the ability to optimize imaging parameters like overall gain or dynamic range once an image is frozen. These powerful imaging capabilities can be used together in nearly any combination and in every mode for images that can be tailored to meet the body habitus or clinical need of each patient.
