Hitachi Celebrates Installation of 100th Altaire Open MR with Opening of Tenet TotalCare at Sierra Medical Center

Twinsburg, Ohio – April 9, 2003 – Hitachi Medical Systems America, Inc. (HMSA) is pleased to announce the installation of their 100th Altaire™ High-Field Performance Open MR imaging system, at the new TotalCare facility, a service of Sierra Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.
TotalCare is a new healthcare concept designed to totally redefine the outpatient imaging experience, with an environment completely focused on customer service and designed to provide a faster, more efficient and comfortable encounter. TotalCare services include MR, CT, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, bone densitometry, fluoroscopy and x-ray.
“Altaire Open MR, which is designed to maintain maximum patient comfort in a spacious gantry design, is a perfect compliment to the TotalCare concept.” stated Sheldon Schaffer, Vice President and General Manager of Magnetic Resonance at HMSA. “For the physician, the Altaire provides true high-field performance in terms of signal-to-noise, spatial and contrast resolution, thanks to VOSI Technology.” VOSI is Hitachi’s exclusive approach to MR design, in which each sub-system – magnet, gradients, RF and computer – is optimized to work in concert with all others, to shatter old performance barriers.
