Los Angeles, CA - June 15, 2002 - Hitachi Medical Systems America, Inc. (HMSA) unveiled its new line-up of PET imaging systems at the annual Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNM) meeting being held this week in Los Angeles, California. Spotlighted is the company's SceptreTM PET imaging system that combines the latest in LSO detector technology with a unique gantry architecture.
At the heart of Sceptre's excellent image quality are high-speed LSO block detectors that enable isotropic 3-D image acquisition while reducing randoms by 50%. Sceptre also uses the most advanced scatter correction, randoms correction and iterative reconstruction algorithms to achieve
image quality found in the highest-end PET systems. It employs a CT-type spiral gantry design to provide an unexcelled combination of clinical performance, operational The compact size of the gantry make it easy to site in existing rooms and for mobile PET imaging applications. Sceptre is narrow enough to eliminate the need for pop-outs on the mobile coach.
"Dollar for dollar, Sceptre offers the best price performance on the market", stated Ray Wtulich,Marketing Manager for Hitachi Medical Systems PET product group. "By combining the leading detector technology with the precision of proven spiral CT geometry, Sceptre offers the ideal blend of image quality and economics that customers tell us they want most."
Sceptre is complemented by a new workstation that features Fusion7DTMfor fast, accurate image
registration ("fusion") of PET, CT and/or MR images. "Fusion7D's speed, accuracy, ease of use and extensive tool kit of algorithms now make electronic image fusion a practical and cost effective alternative to hybrid imaging", continued Wtulich.
Hitachi Medical Systems America, Inc. markets PET imaging systems under the name of Sceptre and Sceptre XL, as well as Swissray ddR direct digital radiography systems and premium, high performance magnetic resonance imaging products of Hitachi Medical Corporation, Tokyo, Japan. These include the AIRIS®II Open MR system with advanced permanent magnet technology and the AltaireTM high-field performance Open MR system. HMSA has established a leadership position in diagnostic imaging with more than 1,200 Open MR imaging systems installed throughout the United States and over 2,300 worldwide.
