Twinsburg, Ohio – January 8, 2002 – Hitachi Medical Systems America, Inc. (HMSA) announced that The Physicians’ Group (TPG), a company in Oklahoma City with multiple holdings, including Oklahoma Sports Science & Orthopedics and Northwest Surgical Hospital, recently purchased a Hitachi AltaireTM high-field performance Open MR system. The Altaire system is TPG’s first full body MRI and the first of its kind in Oklahoma City and will be located at Northwest Surgical Hospital.
According to Jimmy Conway, M.D., Orthopaedic Surgeon and Partner of TPG, “We were looking for an MR system with state-of-the-art image quality and technology, while providing a comfortable scanning environment for our patients. We were pleased to find that Hitachi’s Altaire system was not only open but could also provide the high-field image quality we were seeking.”
“Choosing Altaire was an excellent business decision for TPG because we are now able to provide our physicians with cutting edge technology, and our patients prefer the Open MR environment”, commented Ron Davidson, Chief Executive Officer of TPG.
“The Altaire MR system was designed by Hitachi to incorporate VOSITM Technology so that the subsystems, including signal-to-noise, spatial and contrast resolution, work in concert together to achieve high-field performance while maintaining cost-effectiveness,” stated Sheldon Schaffer, Vice President and General Manager of Magnetic Resonance at Hitachi.
Hitachi Medical Systems America, Inc. markets premium, high performance magnetic resonance imaging products of Hitachi Medical Corporation, Tokyo, Japan. These include the AIRIS® and AIRIS II Open
MR systems with advanced permanent magnet technology and the new Altaire high-field performance Open MR system. HMSA has established a leadership position in Open MR imaging with 1,100 systems installed throughout the United States and over 2,300 worldwide.
