Twinsburg, Ohio - November 4, 1999 - Hitachi Medical Systems America, Inc. (HMSA) announced that they have received three orders for Swissray ddRMulti-Systems. HMSA and Swissray signed a distribution agreement in late August of this year. Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago purchased one system, and Riddle Memorial Hospital of Media, Pennsylvania ordered two, one for radiology and one for the Emergency Department.
"I knew this would prove to be an exciting product, but I never thought we'd sell three systems in the first two months!" stated William Bishop, Director of Business Development for HMSA. "This demonstrates what happens when an acute medical need meets a deliverable clinical solution."
"We chose the Swissray ddR as an Emergency Department application to meet the rising demand we've experienced for the past few years. This expansion of services could not be met by adding equipment or increasing physical space; thus better throughput was required. The ddRMulti-System enables us to accommodate a higher volume of patient visits, expedite multiple examinations and account for workload peaks in the most cost effective and efficient manner for our institution," comments Janice McCann-Stavola, Administrative Manager at Riddle Memorial Hospital.
Kamal B. Russell, M.Sc., M.D., Director of Radiology, highlighted the system's ease of connectivity to Riddle Memorial Hospital's existing PACS system as another benefit. "Not only will this enable immediate and simultaneous review of images by the radiologists and the Emergency Department physician, but it will also reduce or eliminate the problem of lost films at this strategic point," stated Dr. Russell.
