Twinsburg, Ohio - March 31, 1998 -- Hitachi Medical Systems America, Inc. (HMSA) announced that they have shipped their 250th AIRISĀ® Open magnetic resonance (MR) imaging system this month. Hitachi has established a leadership position in Open MR imaging with more than 500 total systems installed in the US and 1,500 worldwide.
"The success of AIRIS stems from listening to the needs of our customers and giving them the qualities which are most desired in an Open MR today 0.3T field strength and advanced permanent magnet technology for excellent image quality," explained Sheldon Schaffer, vice president of marketing for HMSA. "Plus, the unique award-winning gantry design of AIRIS provides easy access from all four sides and offers the patient a comfortable, non-claustrophobic environment." Hitachi has coined the name premium Open MR for AIRIS.
The 250th AIRIS has been acquired by Medical Imaging & Diagnostics, Inc. (MIDI) for their Open Advanced MRI center in Schaumburg, Illinois. MIDI is one of the largest owner/operators of MR imaging centers in the US. "Hitachi's AIRIS has helped us to establish a strong position for our Open Advanced MR centers," explained Richard Fried, President of MIDI. "The image quality and reliability of our AIRIS systems have been excellent. Our patients like the unique open design of AIRIS, which has helped us build a strong referral base."
